Aesthetic dentistry

Have you ever thought about what aesthetic dentistry actually is, what does it offer and what are the methods to make your smile and your teeth more beautiful? The adjective “aesthetic” may be associated with popular aesthetic surgeries, voluntary “going under the knife”, painful surgeries requiring general anaesthesia and long-lasting recovery. On the other hand, people associate dentistry with disliked (or at least unwanted) classic interventions such as dental treatment. We do not think about what makes the most important part of our face, what everyone that we come into contact with sees first. These are, without any doubt, our teeth and our smile.

Owing to today’s state-of-the-art technology and skills of the dentists, we can drastically change our teeth and with that our appearance. This inevitably leads to an increase in our self-confidence, we are less restricted in our behaviour, we laugh without trying to hide what is behind our lips. All this can be achieved quickly and painlessly.

For every problem there is a solution, such as teeth straightening (orthodontics), teeth whitening, improvement of the form and size of teeth with ceramic veneers, replacement of lost teeth by dental implants and aesthetic non-metal ceramic crowns (crowns without metal skeleton that perfectly imitate the natural transparency of the tooth enamel).

The time has come for everybody to be able to put on a big smile and say: this is what I have always wanted!

Došlo je vrijeme kada se svatko od nas može široko nasmiješiti i reći: to je ono što mi je oduvijek bila želja!

Teeth whitening

The loss of the white colour of teeth is, on the one hand, a natural process. Tooth enamel, i.e. the outer protective layer of the tooth, becomes thinner with time, making the colour of the dentine (inner tooth layer) more apparent. On the other hand, coffee, red wine, tobacco and similar coloured products also reduce the white colour of our teeth over the years. Teeth whitening can help restore the beauty of our teeth.

Before whitening, the teeth must be professionally cleaned, i.e. the calcified plaque (calculus) must be removed. Whitening is performed in-office. First, a peroxide-based gel is applied, with the application lasting between 20 and 60 minutes, depending on the desired shade. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated several times. After the treatment, a protective fluoride paste is applied on the teeth.

Teeth whitening is a non-invasive and safe procedure. During the procedure, the whitening gel penetrates the toothenamel. Do not worry, the tooth structure remains unchanged, only the colour changes.

Veneers

Ceramic veneers or laminates are aesthetic replacements in the area of the lateral incisors. They are used for the correction of their colour, form or position. Their advantage is that minimum grinding is required (0.6 – 0.8 mm).

Due to their structure, veneers are a slightly less resistant compared to crowns, but still they can last for a long time if the patient follows the instructions. They have an exceptional aesthetic effect because they are fully made of ceramics and in the appropriate colour.
