Digital RVG and OPG (X-ray)

Digital RVG and OPG (X-ray)

The IDENT Polyclinic is equipped with modern radiological equipment that enables high-quality, fast and precise diagnostics.

COMPLETE X-RAY IMAGING SERVICE

We offer our patients a complete X-ray service, either of individual teeth or the entire jaw. In this way, the patient can receive a complete service in one place, without the need to go to specialized institutions.

In the office, we use an RVG sensor, as well as a 3D digital orthopanomographic device for diagnosis and treatment. Such an approach and method of imaging provides us with more precise diagnostics, better communication with the patient and a lower dose of radiation during imaging. Due to the extremely low exposure, patient protection is up to four times better than with conventional X-ray imaging.

IN WHAT FORMAT ARE THE IMAGING DELIVERED?

The imaging are delivered on a digital medium (CD) and by e-mail to your address or to another doctor for analysis.

What does the term "digital RVG" mean?

RVG is an abbreviation for radiovisiography in dentistry, and it stands for a method of imaging and diagnostics. The term “digital RVG” refers to imaging on a digital sensor with an image displayed on a computer screen instead of on a classic negative film.

This method is better because smaller doses of radiation are used for imaging, which is also the biggest advantage compared to conventional imaging. Also, computer processing of RVG images provides the dentist with a clearer and more precise image, better diagnostics, and thus a better treatment result.

Why is digital imaging better than classic film imaging?

Today’s methods of RVG imaging using digital sensors provide a higher quality image, with a significantly lower dose of radiation required to image one or more teeth. This is a great advantage for the patient because doses of radiation up to four times less than the doses required for imaging on film are used for digital recording.

Also, the imaging on the computer is much clearer, it can be displayed in full screen (enlargement of the entire image or individual parts) and can be subsequently processed with the help of various tools. All these methods provide the dentist with a clearer picture of potential problems and enable a more accurate diagnosis and better final decision-making. Therefore, today, digital RVG imaging in dentistry is a standard and not just an option for individuals.

What does the term "digital orthopanic imaging" or digital orthopan mean?

The digital orthopan is a modern variant of the classic orthopan for imaging the entire jaw. Its great advantage is that the amount of radiation is significantly reduced and allows the image to be displayed instantly on the computer screen. The imaging is permanently archived in our database on the computer, from where it is available at any time; we can store it on a CD, transfer it via a USB memory stick or send it by e-mail.

The image has a high precision of all the structures shown, which allows us to see more details more easily and make a better diagnosis compared to classic images. Pathological processes around all tooth roots, bone condition in cases of periodontitis, carious lesions on the teeth are clearly visible, and implant planning is easier. From a diagnostic point of view, this is the most important image for the timely detection of diseases of the teeth and surrounding structures.

Are pregnant women allowed to have their teeth scanned?

Your dentist must definitely know about the pregnancy before the scan, regardless of the stage of pregnancy. There are various scanning options (with a much lower dose), as well as radiation protection options (with a lead apron and neck and thyroid protection), some of which may be allowed during pregnancy.

However, the dentist will assess whether it is appropriate to make an scan given all the circumstances and the biological or health condition of the pregnant woman.

    Is scanning painful?

Not. Radiological scanning, whether of an individual tooth or the entire jaw, is a completely painless and quick process. Scanning an individual tooth takes only a few seconds, and the entire jaw takes 12-15 seconds.

Is radiological imaging of teeth harmful to children?

For each patient, including children, individual imaging parameters are determined. We pay special attention to the passive safety of all patients, including children. Given the physical structure and shape of the jaw, the dentist will determine the optimal dose of radiation to obtain an appropriate image with as little radiation as possible.

Also, for imaging each patient, especially children, protection is used, i.e. lead aprons that protect other parts of the body from unnecessary secondary radiation. Your dentist will be happy to provide you with more information about imaging techniques and all protective measures during radiological imaging.

Can all types of imaging be made in your office?

In our clinic, it is not necessary to make a special order or wait for the imaging because they are ready immediately. Each patient receives a imaging on CD and radiological film. If necessary, we can also send the imaging by e-mail to the desired address.

How much does it cost to scan an individual tooth and the entire jaw?

The prices for scans and other services can be viewed on our official price list.
