They keep the teeth in a fixed position, that is, they prevent them from moving again.
How much does dental braces for children cost?
When parents are preparing to provide their child with orthodontic therapy, questions inevitably arise such as: how long does the orthodontic appliance last, what type of braces is good for children, is wearing braces painful, how long will the child have to wear braces, and the like.
The duration of therapy, and therefore the wearing of dental braces, is determined by the orthodontist and depends on various factors. It is impossible to give unique answers. It is very important that parents adhere to the recommendations and advice of the dentist on hygiene and that they take care of regular check-ups to monitor the course of therapy.
The price of braces is mostly the same for both children and adults. However, in children, part or all of the amount of the installation and cost of fixed braces can be covered by health insurance, i.e. through the Croatian Health Insurance Fund.
How much does an adult brace cost?
It is not possible to determine the exact cost of the installation of a dental appliance in adults in advance, since it depends on several factors. First of all, the price of orthodontic therapy is determined based on the complexity of the case, so the exact amount will be known after a clinical examination, making an orthodontic image and study models, and a detailed orthodontic analysis.
Also, adults often have the opportunity to choose various types of orthodontic braces (e.g. because of better aesthetics), which also affects the final price.
Does fixed braces have to be metal?
No, fixed braces do not have to be entirely metal. Thus, the brackets can be ceramic, almost invisible, and the ligatures (rubber bands that connect the wire and the bracket) can be in different colours.
The wire can also be white, so the whole brace becomes aesthetically very acceptable.
